Within that time frame I have had two biopsies, many explanatory leaflets and a number of incredibly supportive phone calls. I have had consistency of care, from what I suspect are the team who will, in the event of a dodgy result, care for me long term. I have a sketchy and limited knowledge of breast cancer, one borne from a nursing career and a lot of media input. I shall, of course, read extensively and take advice from others if all goes tits up. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I will have evidence based, effective treatment. CRAZYWISE - the Brecon screening

“Crazy…or wise? The traditional wisdom of indigenous cultures often contradicts modern views about a mental health crisis. Is it a ‘calling’ to grow or just a ‘broken brain’? The documentary CRAZYWISE explores what can be learned from people around the world who have turned their psychological crisis into a positive transformative experience.” On the longest (and probably hottest) day of 2017 I was at The Wellington Hotel in Brecon with PAVO colleagues, community groups, staff from mental health services and individuals to watch this new documentary film by directors Phil Borges and Kevin Tomlinson. The free community screening had been arranged by Avril Meyler of Emerging Paradigms in partnership with PAVO and Brecon community organisations. My colleagues Anne Woods, Philip Moisson and Jane Cooke helped organise the event and also facilitated the open discussion sessions following the screening. Festivals and the wellbeing scene

courtesy Shambala Festival by guest author Philip Moisson During this blog I'd like to talk about the Powys Five Ways to Wellbeing and how they interact with the experience of summer festivals  –  now that the season has come to an end.  This year I was one of the thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds who volunteered for Oxfam as a Festival Steward. There are many festivals around the UK and beyond, and Oxfam provides the stewards for a good number of them. I was at the glittery and costume filled world of Shambala in the Midlands. In return for three shifts, and including three square meals, you can enjoy the festival experience for nothing – whilst earning money for Oxfam's vital work at the same time.
